Review: Tom Ford Black Orchid

This cologne is dark, thick, and complex.  When you first smell it it takes you a moment to figure out what’s going on.  It’s very rich, with chocolate, truffle, amber, woods, some citrus. It’s powerful, dark and wet.

If you are like me and have a bunch of different scents in your collection, I think this one is a must have.  It’s very unique, I don’t think there is anything like it.  It’s not the most masculine scent, even the men’s version.  I think men could also wear the women’s version too though.  There are subtle differences between the two, but they are both rich and powerful.

Review – Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo – Mandorlo di Sicilia

This has a very interesting smell, almond, vanilla, anise, peach, musk, cedar, bergamot.  The smell is great, but it’s not really something I want to smell like.  I wouldn’t say this is for everyone, but depending on your skin chemistry, it may be right for someone out there.  This is something you should definitely try on before you buy though.

The problem with this is it may be the least long lasting cologne I’ve ever smelled.  After about a half an hour I could hardly smell it all even if I put my nose right on my arm.  If you have the opportunity to carry it around and re-apply it occasionally this might work out for you, but because of the short lifespan and the unusual smell, I think this is only going to be for a very select group of people.  I would recommend smelling it if you find it in a store near you as it is quite unique and interesting.

Review: Parfums de marly Pegasus

This has a dark, rich, complex smell.  Vanilla, Almond, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Cumin, Bergamot.  It smells very masculine,  would be good for a date, or a night out on the town.  Probably too much for everyday office wear.  Definitely a nighttime scent.

It is very long lasting and maintains a pleasant smell as the scent progresses.  You have to be careful because something that smells good when you put it on can change it’s scent throughout time.  Many synthetic scents last much longer than natural ones so if you are not careful that nice natural smell can turn sharp and unpleasant a few hours in.  Not the case with this however.

Overall this is one of the nicer scents I’ve smelled recently and would highly recommend it.

Review: Bond No. 9 – Harlem

It has a powerful vanilla base, with coffee, cedar, patchouli.  The smell doesn’t equal the sum of it’s parts.  It’s got a crisp, professional smell, but at the same time you could wear it out at a club.  It feels sophisticated.  It has some synthetics in it, but they work very well in complimenting other natural smells.

It’s not overpowering.  The performance is very good, it will last pretty much all day.  One of my favorite from Bond St. 9.
