Review: Acqua di Gio

A very nice clean smelling scent. This is a very mass appealing fragrance. It smells like water. This would work for pretty much any occasion, office, sports, date, club. If you were only going to own one cologne this would be a very good choice.

After it dries down some more complex notes appear. This is a popular scent and I can tell why. I think this is particularly well suited for a date. Because it is so mass appealing your date will likely enjoy this, as opposed to a scent that is more divisive and may be a turn off. You may find other stuff that’s more interesting to certain people but everyone will like this.

It was also long lasting, with decent projection. No extreme in either case but a good amount above average.

Review: Paco-Rabanne – 1 million

I really liked the smell a lot more when it was on paper. After smelling it on my skin some of the notes smelled a lot more synthetic and less pleasant. I’ve heard this is one of the top selling colognes. It makes me wonder how many people buy it without trying it on and don’t like it as much after they own it.

Overall it’s a pleasant smell but that real synthetic feel it has doesn’t make it smell like a very expensive cologne. It is on the more expensive side of designer fragrances. It’s possible this is going to smell different on your skin than mine so don’t let me stop you from buying it, but definitely don’t blind buy this.

It’s a very bold smell. If you’re going to be in a very intimate situation with someone this would be overwhelming. A club or bar scenario would be pretty good for this. Not for work as it isn’t a professional smell. Being indoors all day it will be too much for the people around you. Gym would be a bad place as well as it’s not sporty at all.

Review: Lacoste Noir intense

It had an interesting smell on paper but after wearing it just for 20 minutes the scent was a lot weaker and not as rich. All of the interesting notes seem to have disappeared and it just smells kind of like a standard sporty type fragrance. Something like Polo Blue. Not a bad fragrance at all but just not unique or what I was expecting from smelling the paper. Notes of chocolate and watermelon made this a very unique scent, which is way it’s so much more disappointing that those notes disappear so quickly.

If you wanted to buy this I would say it’s a good sporty fragrance, good for the office and gym. But if you are going for sporty I don’t think this is you best option. I recommend trying some on you skin, maybe you will have better luck than I did and those wonderful chocolate watermelon notes wont disappear so quickly.

Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra male

Le male is one of my all-time favorite scents. I hadn’t gotten around to trying Ultra male until now. I smelled it on paper a few months ago but it didn’t impress me as much as I was hoping however I finally tried it on my skin and the results are way better. Like Le Male, it’s strong and has great projection. It’s a much darker fragrance, it reminds me of Bubble Yum bubble gum. With some spiciness coming in the background. Don’t let that description full you though, it’s a complex and mature scent.

It’s also a very unique scent, I can’t think of anything else that smells like this. If you’re like me and you’re looking for a diverse collection of different colognes than this I think this should be part of your collection. It would be fantastic for a date or a nightclub, there’s a very seductive quality to it. The office is not the right place for this and it’s not very sporty.

I want to repeat that smelling this on the paper does not at all do it justice. After wearing it on my skin I feel like it’s already very high on my list of my favorite fragrances.
