Review: Czech & Speake – Villa Ausonia

Apple and lemon stand out in this. It’s very subtle, fresh, makes me think of being home in the summer, fresh laundry, being outside when it’s about to rain. Projection isn’t too strong.

This would be good in the gym, dates, office, almost anywhere. It’s very pleasant, I don’t think this is going to be divisive.

All of the Czech & Speake fragrances smell amazing, and this is no exception. The projection is not good, so this should be restricted to indoors, intimate situations.

Review: Czech & Speake – Neroli

This scent is very much dominated by neroli. Some of the citris and other notes help mellow out the neroli, which can sometimes be a bit too sharp and intense. The projection is medium. After around 4 hours this started to wear off.

I associate neroli with an older crowd, man or woman, perhaps in their 60’s. This scent is appropriate for a lunch out. It’s bright and feels like summer. A picnic, golf, tennis, anything that is outdoors in the summer or spring.

If you are younger I don’t recommend this, it is going to be very odd for what most people are wearing before their 50s. If you like neroli I highly recommend this. They really smooth out any of what is sometimes a bit harsh to the nose into a very well blended, smooth and pleasant scent.

Review: Czech Speake – Cuba

This has an aftershave vibe to it. Mint, tobacco and rum stand out. The projection isn’t great, not very noticeable from far even after putting a good amount on my wrists. After 6 hours it was almost impossible to smell.

This would be good on an intimate date. It has a very masculine feel to it, I would say it would be good at clubs, bars, etc but the poor projection makes it not ideal for those situations. If you are close proximity I think this scent could really be a turn on to a girl.

I think the smell is amazing, I always like that aftershave smell and this is a wonderful version of it. The tobacco and mint really give it some depth. It is a real shame that the projection and lasting power isn’t very high because I really like the smell. If those things aren’t important to you, it’s very good.

Review: Czech Speake – Oxford Cambridge

This has a very sophisticated smell. It’s full of subtle notes, rosemary is what I first notice, but it’s much more than that, blending lavender, mint, oakmoss, a touch of citrus to create a very unique scent. This is masculine scent, I don’t think this would work for females. The projection is medium, and it lasts a good amount of time, after 8 hours it was still around.

This would be good in an office or on a night out on the town. It’s pretty dynamic, it’s not too powerful at close distances, I think you could wear it at the gym as well. It’s something that should be worn by an older gentleman, it would be a bit odd on a teenager, and even someone into their 20’s.

I really enjoy this scent. I don’t have anything in my collection that is based off rosemary, so it wouldn’t overlap with most colognes out there. I really like how smooth and well blended all the notes are. I highly recommend this. It’s an English company and their stuff is not easy to find in the states, so if you’re looking for something that is going to be very unique (at least in the US) this would be a good way to go.

Review: Bond No 9 – Nouveau Bowery

This is a powerful citrus, mostly lime smell. Very deep notes, like walking through a lime tree orchard. The projection is pretty good, not overwhelming. Some other citrus, and spicy notes are in there to take that bite away from the lime and mellow it out.

After 5 hours it still has decent projection and good staying power. Its leaning a bit more to the feminine side now.

This would be great on a date or other night time events. It’s more of an evening fragrance, not sporty at all. You may be able to get away with his at the office. It is more of a summertime scent, but as with everything I say, bending the rules is always a good idea.

If you’re looking for a good lime scent, this one is very nice. I wouldn’t recommend this to be your signature fragrance, I think it really should be part of a collection as it doesn’t work in all situations, but there is a sexy element to it that makes it great for dates.
