Review: Jo Malone – Insense & Cedrat

This has a very woody smell, there are a lot of citrus scents in this but I feel like the wood notes really dominate, giving it a woody and smokey smell. I really enjoy it, one of my favorites from Jo Malone, and this is a line from which I personally own some fragrances.

The scent is dark, but not too thick. It isn’t an assault on the nose, projection seems medium. The projection is decent, and it’s somewhat long lasting, at least a few hours. If you haven’t tried this I highly recommend doing so.

Review: Terre D’Hermes Eau De Toilette

Very citrus lemon lime smelling. It has a feel of an older scent essence, but with a more modern feel to it. Very masculine smell, I think most people would find this very pleasant.

It goes on very strong but it’s quickly loses a lot of it’s potency. Like other scents from this line, it isn’t long lasting and the projection isn’t very good, but it smells amazing. Only wear this when you are going to be in close proximity to someone you’re trying to impress. Restaurants, clubs, any outdoor locations would render this undetectable. A candle light dinner at home, or a very intimate experience would be best for this.

If you are looking for a signature scent, this definitely is not what you are looking for, only buy this if you are looking to expand your collection and looking for interesting new dimensions.

Review: Terre D’Hermes – Eau de narcisse bleu

This has a very flowery smell to it, I would say it’s a bit on the feminine side. The projection is not very good, I think this would only be good to wear in the most intimate of situations. I’m finding this brand doesn’t generally seem to last very long. It is a bit of a shame because they have a lot of scents that smell incredible. Usually this is because they are using natural oils so it’s hard to fault them for the short lasting properties.

If you don’t short lasting perfume, for instance using it only on dates, or social outings only at night, there is a lot of great stuff to try from the line. I’ll be posting a bunch more reviews of them in the next few weeks.

Review for bamboo

This cologne has a lot of musk in the beginning but as it dries down you start to get some of the other notes which include wood and citrus. Some of the musk stays around but not as strong. It’s also not super strong initially, some musky based colognes have a significant amount musk which some people might not like especially until it dries down. This one seems pretty good right from the start.

This has a pretty unique smell for a designer fragrance. I think it would be good for a date or a night out at a club or bar. I think it has a pretty wide appeal as well. It isn’t super long lasting for me, so I wouldn’t be shy about starting out with 4-5 sprays.
