Review: Bond No. 9 – The scent of peace for him

This has a fruity note, smells like it may have been inspired by Aventus. It smells very similar except it has some notes of wood or smoke in it that Aventus doesn’t.

Even though it might be inspired by Aventus its not a cheap imitation, it smells very good. Projection isn’t as strong though.

This would be good for a date, or even office wear. It would have a very wide appeal.

Review: Hadarah – Sinan

Light with citrus and smokey incense notes that give it a real depth Projection is below average but not terrible. This would be good everyday wear, works at the office, gym, date, club, anything I can think of. I think either sex could pull this off. Rose starts coming on strong after a little bit.

It is very long lasting, still staying strong after 6 hours. It is expensive, but it has the smell of a very high quality scent. I find it’s hard to go wrong with Hadarah.

Opinion – Niche vs Designer

Niche is better.

Ok, I’ll write more.

A niche fragrance is generally from a company that specializes in fragrances, while designer fragrances are generally a clothing or fashion companies version of a cologne. Niche tend to be higher quality and use better oils, but also higher in price.

There is a bit of a fuzzy area, specifically with Tom Ford which is a fashion company that has a line of very high quality fragrances that I would consider comparable to a lot of niche lines.

If you’re going to invest in a scent, I think it’s worth it to try to go niche. A high end scent from a designer is going to be around 60-90 dollars, but if you can throw in an extra 40 dollars, you really open up yourself to a lot of options.

Not only are niche fragrances more natural smelling, there are going to be a lot more diversity of types of scents.

That’s not to say that there are no good from designer scents, there are plenty of great ones, but niche really opens up a lot of new options. Generally you can get them from specialty perfume stores, or if you have a large Nordstrom or Lord + Taylor or higher end places, they will offer a large selection of niche perfumes.

Review: Czech & Speake – Frankincense and Myrrh

Fresh and woody. Even though this is called frankincense and myrrh the cedar is the star of the show. Very masculine, this would be good for a date, and it could be a good signature scent as well. The projection isn’t super strong which is a shame because this wouldn’t be offensive to anyone.

I like this scent a lot, more of an older gentlemen looking for a very distinguished scent. It would be great for a date, or office wear, any professional setting.
