Review: Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit De L’Homme Eau de Toilette

This has a very flowery smell after it dries down for just 10 minutes. A woody background with a lot of citrus coming through.

I wanted to try this because I’ve seen it on a lot of people’s top 10 lists. I wouldn’t put this in my top 10, but I can easily see why one would. The projection is amazing, if you wear this people are going to know it.

This is a going out smell, good for dinner, a night on the town, a date might be good, not a first date though. This is a bold scent and I think you’d want something a bit more subdued for a first impression. Not a day time scent, not an office scent.

Review: Dolce & Gabbana – The One for Men

This is a very smooth, VERY woody scent. I love woods so this works for me. The projection is ok, not amazing. A lot of amber, tobacco, ginger, giving it a spicy and creamy scent. It has a depth to it which is very nice, layered.

I think this could be used at an office, a date, not very sporty, not great for a bar, or outdoors, I don’t think this scent is going to carry very well so it’s best used in more intimate situations. It’s not very long lasting, so this isn’t something you can spray on in the morning and walk around with all day. I would put this on right before you walk out the door.

Review: Allure – Homme Sport

I wanted to try this one after trying to intense version. I felt like the intense version was interesting, but it had a deep rich scent to it that didn’t mix with what I consider a sport scent. This one doesn’t have that problem at all, very fresh, clean, and pleasant. I would go with this over the intense.

This would be good on a date, in the gym, outdoors in a crowded area. It has good projection and a powerful scent. Orange, sea, vanilla, a bit of wood makes it a fresh scent. It is similar to a air freshener or a dryer sheet. I make these comparisons not say this fragrance smells cheap, but just so you will have a general idea what the smell is.

The project is ok, middle of the road, and it’s pretty long lasting. I felt as it went on the smell got a little more complex.

Review: Allure – Homme Sport Eau Extreme

This has a nice smell to it, but it also smells like it has a ton of synthetic ingredients. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, but some might take issue with it. It is very heavy with tonka bean, orange and musk provide a background for the tonka bean.

Combining the sporty smell with the ‘Extreme’ part is interesting. It definitely has the essence of what you think of as a sporty fragrance but it also has a rich complexity to go with it. I’d be interesting in seeing what the regular Homme Sport is like. I might do a review on that next to see how they differ.

I can see this working on a date, I’m not sure I would consider this a good everyday fragrance. It’s a bit much for that.

After a few hours it became very difficult to smell, for me it wasn’t very long lasting.

Mercedes: Grey man

This is a very professional smell with a tinge of something more exciting happening in the background. Citrus, sage and musk are the main scents coming out, although I had to look up what was in it, they are blended in a way that gives it a very uniform smell.

I think this would work in a professional environment and I also think it would work on a date. It’s not sporty at all, I wouldn’t try to use it in a outdoor environment either.
