Review: Maison Martin Margiela – At The Barber’s

This is obviously a barber shop style cologne. Lots of spiciness with a fresh feeling. The projection is not very good, I have to hold my hand right up to my nose to smell anything and even then it is a fainter than I would have expected. It seemed overly strong and first but it has mellowed to the point where I can hardly smell it. It reminds me a bit of Barbasol. After 3 hours the scent is still hanging around but it is very faint, but it’s stayed at this strength for the remainder of the day.

It is very versatile, I think office wear, gym, date would all be great places for this, day or nighttime. The only thing I would avoid is outdoor environments due to the poor projection.

While it’s a pleasant smell, the poor projection is a real deal breaker. If you want something with a barbershop vibe to it, I think Gurlain’s Heritage would be a way better choice here, and at similar price points.
